Greens: The FPÖ’s inhumane deportation fantasies are reminiscent of the darkest times
Vienna (OTS) – “Yesterday’s appearance by FPÖ chairman Kickl made it clear: the FPÖ is the extended arm of the right-wing extremist Identitarians, a group that is rightly under observation by the Office for the Protection of the Constitution. Kickl almost celebratory missed every opportunity to distance himself and once once more provided proof that the FPÖ cannot be given responsibility for Austria,” says Olga Voglauer, General Secretary of the Green Party, adding: “There was also no distancing with regard to the financial scandal in Graz FPÖ. The FPÖ is always the first to lash out loudly, but when it comes to the Freedom Party’s own scandals, i.e. the fact that presumably public money is being put into their own pockets in a self-service manner, then they cover up and deny it for all they’re worth. In doing so, Kickl and the Freedom Party are also mocking the “little man,” whose interests the FPÖ always claims to want to represent.”
“In addition, there are the inhumane deportation fantasies of Kickl and co, which are reminiscent of the darkest times in Austrian history. As a Carinthian Slovenian, I know too well what it means when family members are deported. And that’s just because they speak Slovenian”; warns Voglauer and adds: “Yesterday’s appearance by Kickl can only be interpreted as confirmation that the FPÖ is throwing sand in people’s eyes. The FPÖ is not concerned with the needs of the people in Austria. She wants to undermine democracy from the inside, similar to her role model Orban in Hungary, and in doing so threatens the freedoms people in Austria have won over decades. It is completely clear: Come Kickl, come Orbanistan, come decline. We Greens oppose this vehemently,” concludes Voglauer.
