Voglauer/Greens: After the member survey, the SPÖ should finally return to objectivity

Vienna (OTS) “I congratulate the SPÖ on the successful completion of their member survey. After the vote, social democracy can now return to the negotiating table and reflect on its former state-supporting role. The future of the Social Democratic Party’s personnel has been discussed long enough,” says Olga Voglauer, General Secretary of the Greens.

“Most recently, the SPÖ had definitely left the constructive path and announced that it would not allow 2/3 majorities in parliament. That means a frontal climate protection and transparency blockade. This prevents, for example, the resolution of the Energy Efficiency Act or the Renewable Heat Act. Two key levers to get out of dependence on Putin. In addition, the blockade would result in EU fines in the millions – and taxpayers would pay for party tactical games,” says Voglauer.

“Even the Freedom of Information Act for the abolition of official secrecy or the Prohibition Act are 2/3 matters. We therefore invite the SPÖ and its members of parliament to give up the climate protection and transparency blockade in the interests of the people in Austria and to return to the negotiating table. I hope that the SPÖ will put reason and responsibility first and now focus on the country’s future once more,” concludes Voglauer.
