That is almost as high as the towers of the Ursuline Church on Landstrasse in Linz. This is the highest high-bay warehouse in the company’s history, the company announced on Tuesday.
The structure is designed to store 18,000 tire pallets. “Voestalpine plays a leading role, particularly in fully automated high-bay silos with heights of over 30 meters,” says Carola Richter, Head of the Metal Forming Division.
Space for 166,000 pallets for Jysk
The high-bay warehouse systems made of steel profiles from the Metal Forming Division of the voestalpine Group are in demand worldwide, for example from the Danish furniture retailer Jysk. For this company, the Linz-based company is building two 45-meter-long shelving blocks from 8,000 tons of steel in the Netherlands. The warehouse, with space for around 166,000 pallets, is scheduled to be completed by December 2025.
voestalpine is also a supplier for XXXLutz’s new central warehouse in Zurndorf. By October 2024, this is expected to have 70,000 pallet spaces. All contract amounts have been agreed to remain confidential.
Voest generates its added value in the area of shelving and storage systems primarily with roll-profiled pipes and with the design and assembly of the storage systems. Other shelving manufacturers such as TGW concentrate on the highly complex processes in warehouse logistics.
