VMVT: Merchants in Kaunas sold expired milk products of unknown origin | Business

During the inspections, it was found that the products were sold in unsanitary conditions, various sweet curd cheese masses were packaged on wooden pallets without protecting the product from external contamination, cutting was carried out without the appropriate equipment (the cheese was cut on cardboard sheets, the knives found were dirty, stored in a disorderly manner ). All traders were engaged in the activity of packaging food products without having a permit issued by VMVT.

Also, most of the self-packaged dairy products were without labeling labels. In the labels of some of the marked products, the expiration date of the food product is indicated incorrectly – by extending the deadline specified by the manufacturer. Some of the packaged food products had clearly visible signs of spoilage.

More than 20 kg of various types of unlabeled ice cream stored in torn bags, more than 10 kg of deformed mass of glazed curd cheeses, more than 100 kg of frozen curds whose expiration date has expired were found in the freezers. During the inspections, food products of unknown origin were traded, the acquisition documents of which were not submitted. Traders did not have containers for waste collection and storage, and there is no accounting for food unsuitable for consumption – collected food waste.

It is totally prohibited to supply to the market more than 300 kg of various food products of uncertain origin, without labeling information and with expired shelf life. 3 decisions on the banning of activities were drawn up, information regarding one economic entity was transferred to the State Tax Inspectorate. Administrative fines will be applied to all responsible persons of the 3 economic entities.
