As is well known, the death metal supergroup around David Vincent and Blasphemer is entering the next round. Now there is “Scorcher”, the second single from the upcoming album “Epic”!

THE LAST are a legend in the underworld. Every good Satanist knows that he is at the horned feet of David Vincent (ex-MORBID ANGEL), Rune Eriksen (Ex-MAYHEM and Flo Mounier (CRYPTOPSY) must bow and worship them. Their debut was greeted with an enthusiastic procession of devil horns. But with their new album, these gods of dark, extreme metal have reached truly epic heights.

Watch the video for “Scorcher” here:

Some metal songs prefer to unfold slowly before blowing your eardrums away. But rest assured, “Scorcher” is no slow affair. Sure, the guitars lure you in with a smoky séance. But as soon as Rune condenses the chords into an icy, black tremolo picking, VLTIMAS take off like a bat out of hell. The amplifiers turn up; Flo fires blast beats hot enough to scorch an angel’s wings while David Vincent lets out a mile-long battle cry.

His growl is so massive, so heartless, that you would think he was talking regarding himself.

“Scorcher’ brings to life a fantastic story regarding the great cleansing that is coming,” says Vincent. “Humanity has been sleepwalking toward this reckoning for centuries. There will be no refuge and no mercy will be given.”

LAST TIMES:
„Satan laughs as worlds collide“.

Extreme metallers VLTIMAS (pronounced ‘uhl-tuh-mas’) are attacking metaldom once once more with their highly anticipated second album EPIC via Season of Mist. The multinational quintet features the Norwegian guitarist Rune “Blasphemer” Eriksen (ex-Mayhem, Aura Noir), the American singer David Vincent (ex-Morbid Angel) and the Canadian drummer Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), which is accompanied by the Dutch bassist Ype TVS (ex-Dodecahedron) and the Portuguese guitarist João Duarte (Corpus Christii) continue on their way. Driven by strength and integrity, VLTIMAS strengthened their signature with wicked ingenuity on their debut “Something Wicked Marches In” (2019), which was praised by Decibel Magazine, BangerTV, Louder and many others. The singles “Miserere,” “Scorcher,” and “Invictus” showcase a band of musicians at the peak of their abilities, united in their pursuit of unity.

David Vincent reveals:
“We wrote every track on EPIC together at my ranch in Dime Box, Texas. The writing sessions were as organic as they might be. There were times when Rune would pick up his guitar at the end of the night and play something ridiculous. Flo then played something even more ridiculous. I then said to the boys: ‘I have to capture this’. The magic [von VLTIMAS] So it consists of us being in a room together, discussing, playing, recording music and everything else we do together. We have an incredible camaraderie.”

The members of VLTIMAS may not be atavists, but their preferred creative methods are tried and tested. Technology has its place, but the group thrives best when together and not separated from the world. Known as a riff innovator, Eriksen is more effective when he has a highly capable sideman like Vincent or Mounier at his side, whose drumming on Cryptopsy and his acclaimed instructional DVD Extreme Metal Drumming 101 proved he knows no limits . Whether it’s the moody, edgy attack of “Miserere”, the wicked groove of “Mephisto Manifesto” or the dark fury of “Nature’s Fangs”, VLTIMAS’ chemistry and commitment is undeniable.

Rune Eriksen added:
“The main goal [von VLTIMAS] is to be real. To channel the moment, to let the true inspiration out. I don’t think I ever set a goal of what an album should or must sound like before I or we write it, because that means I have to make compromises during the process. With EPIC we focused on more direct songs and trimmed the fat, unlike Something Wicked Marches In which had a progressive and ‘playful’ feel.”
