One of the main media players used both in its version for desktop and smartphone, VLC is compatible with several formats and has features that are not present in other applications, such as quick access to settings and compatibility with different file formats and codecs .
This week, the app was updated to version 3.4.0 on iOS, bringing some improvements that make the package even more complete, with support for CarPlay, in addition to a renewed library interface. Already with tests being done for a few months, especially Apple’s automotive standard support has been requested by users for years on the VideoLAN developer forum.
The change in the library interface, which can be seen above, also helps manage and play music, leaving VLC with a design more similar to other players and music streaming services. The random mode algorithm has also been improved.
According to the developers, this new version should be the last one compatible with iOS 9 and iPhones whose chips have 32-bit architecture – prior to the iPhone 5S. The full changelog, which can be viewed here, even cites performance fixes and minor bugs.
