The long-awaited premiere of Valery Fokin’s play “Meyerhold. Alien Theater” did not take place on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater on February 9. As Fontanka learned, the actor who played Pyotr Starkovsky, Vladimir Lisetsky, fell on stage.

Eyewitnesses suggest that he tripped on the step. They told Fontanka that the performance was first stopped because an ambulance was called for the actor. And then it was canceled completely, the audience was asked to leave the hall.

As Fontanka reported, on February 9, 10 and 11, on the New Stage of the Alexandrinsky Theater – the most anticipated premiere – “Meyerhold. Alien Theater” in honor of the 150th anniversary of the great theater reformer Vsevolod Meyerhold. The production is based on a transcript of a meeting of the staff of the State Theater. Meyerhold, held in December 1937, and on an article by P. M. Kerzhentsev entitled “Alien Theater”, published in the newspaper Pravda. Today it is already known that it was this article that became the beginning of the destruction of Meyerhold (later executed) and his theater. Vladimir Koshevoy plays Vsevolod Meyerhold in the play.
