Vitor Roque, on a slow fire

The expedition of Betis emissaries that travelled to Barcelona on Monday is already on the way back to Seville. Betis CEO Ramón Alarcón, sporting director Manu Fajardo and Joaquín Sánchez flew back to the capital of Andalusia with mixed feelings but with a certain optimism regarding the incorporation of Vitor Roque for the forward line of Manuel Pellegrini’s team.

The reason for this optimism is none other than having convinced the player to join the green and white cause. Betis’ emissaries met with Vitor Roque and his agent on Monday afternoon at the player’s home and managed to get a “yes” to their project. The other competitor, Sporting de Portugal, is not fully committed to the Barcelona striker, since its first option is the Greek Ioannidis, a striker for Panathinaikos. However, they could reach the 30 million that Barcelona are asking for the transfer of Vitor Roque.

On Tuesday, the meetings between Alarcón, Fajardo and Joaquín moved from Vitor Roque’s home to the Barcelona Sports City, where they were received by Deco. There, Betis proposed various formulas to Barcelona to acquire the services of the Brazilian striker, but all with one insurmountable premise: Betis can only opt for one loan. The duration of the loan, as well as the percentage of the player that the Verdiblancos could acquire at the end of the season is what is being negotiated and what Barcelona does not quite agree with. After the meeting, Joaquín spoke to Chiringuito, acknowledging that the Betis club is optimistic and that “there is good will.”

With less than two weeks to go until the end of the transfer window, the signing of Vitor Roque is inevitably simmering. Betis is relatively calm about the agreement with the player, which is expected to be definitive for Barcelona to accept the conditions of a loan.
