Quetta Vijayakumar, a classical singer from Afghanistan, started learning this art at the age of seven and later became a disciple of Afghan classical singer Painda Mohammad Khan who came from Afghanistan.

He said: ‘Classical singing is a great art, one that takes a lifetime to learn, even less. In today’s era, people who come to learn do not have time, they need patience, what they don’t have, people are looking for shortcuts.’
Vijay said that he is also running an academy called Paasa (Professing Arts Sangeet Academy) under his help, where only a few people come to learn, but there are no special learners.
On what music is dying in this situation, Vijayakumar said that ‘Music is such a thing that it never ends, it can increase or decrease, but due to lack of resources and opportunities in Balochistan, it is not promoted. getting, because there is no such institution from which one can learn.’
He said that ‘like there is Napa Academy in Sindh, there is Alhamra Academy in Lahore, where great teachers are teaching people such opportunities. If such institutions are created under the patronage of the government, classical and other music will also be promoted, new people will also come forward.

Vijay Kumar also sings bhajans for Hindus during religious festivals and rituals, besides teaching classical singing to men and women.

He said that ‘I am a native of Balochistan and that’s why I initially recorded a song in 2003 in Brahvi language on PTV, besides I also sing songs in Balochi, Pashto, Saraiki, Sindhi, Urdu, Punjabi. . I prefer Balochi and Brahvi because these are the languages of my own region.’
