Visiting Burkina Faso, Sissoco Embalo reaffirms the support of ECOWAS

The current president of ECOWAS met the Burkinabè president of the transition, captain Ibrahim Traoré, this Wednesday, January 11. On the menu of exchanges, the conduct of the transition, the support of ECOWAS and the role that certain partners such as France might play in the fight once morest terrorism. A visit which comes a few hours following that of the French Secretary of State for Development.

During this visit Umaro Sissoco Embalo underlined the unanimity of all the Heads of State of ECOWAS: we must help Burkina Faso. Regarding the grievances and requests of the Burkinabe government, the current president of ECOWAS reaffirmed the availability of the organization to support and accompany the country in the fight once morest terrorism.

« We’re going to see how to immediately support Burkina in the things that Burkina needs, with our partners as well, because we can’t do anything without our partners. And then also discuss with certain countries and in particular France, which can be very useful in intelligence and in this fight once morest jihadism. We also discussed certain situations with neighboring countries. It is very important that we can live in harmony and peace. »

Umaro Sissoco Embalo promises to take stock of his mission at the next ECOWAS summit so that urgent decisions can be made. He specified that the spirit of the sub-regional body is not to sanction, nor to impose, but to accompany all the countries in transition.
