Today Wednesday from dark, a Supermoon can be seen, an event that occurs when the Moon is at its perigee or closest point to Earth in its orbit, and also coincides with the full Moon phase.

It will not look blue, but today’s Supermoon Wednesday is called a Blue Moon because it is the second full Moon in the same month, since we were able to observe another full Moon on August 1.

Due to its slight closeness, it will appear a bit brighter and larger, especially when it appears rising above the eastern horizon at dusk and then as it sets in the west.

What time can I see her?

“Although it can be seen throughout Wednesday night, from the Island it will be seen more impressively during the first 30 minutes of its appearance, between 6:50 pm and 7:20 pm,” said the Caribbean Astronomy Society (SAC). ).

The educational entity explained that the average distance from the Moon is 239,000 miles (384,600 km), but tonight it will be 222,000 miles away, that is, regarding 17,000 miles closer due to its elliptical or oval orbit.

To complement the beautiful view, the planet Saturn will be located just above the Moon on Wednesday, so that apparent “star” on top of the Moon is actually not a star, but the “King of the Rings”.

Preliminarily, the forecast of the weather conditions looks favorable to enjoy the event from the entire Island, and the SAC urges you to share images of tonight’s Supermoon.
