Visible Lock Screen would use the Apple Watch to know when to shut down

The always-on lock screen feature on iPhone 14 Pro will react to different factors to save battery. One of them did not have the honors of a mention during the keynote. According to youtuber Felixba here when picking up newer models, the screen will turn off completely if the iPhone detects that its owner has moved away or left without it. In this case, there is no need to keep the screen half-awake.

But for this automatic deactivation/activation to work, you will need to have an Apple Watch. It is by the distance from it that the iPhone will know if its user is nearby. Apple cited two other scenarios where the visible screen turns itself off in order to preserve the battery: when you turn your phone face down on the table and when you slip it into your pocket.

The publication of the first tests this week may reveal other settings or equally clever automatic behaviors.
