Visa system is changing in Saudi too; We don’t need more expats who are unskilled workers

Riyadh: Saudi Arabia says that it no longer needs unskilled workers from foreign countries. The country’s Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development is planning to reduce recruitment. For this, the move is to reform the system of visas for recruiting workers from abroad.

Preliminary studies in this regard have been completed by the Ministry of Human Resource and Social Development. The visa system is being reformed in an attempt to reduce the recruitment of unskilled workers and emphasize the recruitment of highly skilled and skilled workers. Three models have been proposed to reform the recruitment system on the basis of classifying the skills of workers as high qualification, medium qualification and low qualification. The study includes recommendations for specific models, international comparisons in similar contexts, and analysis of the current situation.
