Two and a half dozen Finns have already lost their visas to travel to Russia in recent weeks. The cancellation is preceded by inquiries from Russian border guards, Finnish media write.
As Finnish journalists say on May 15, Finn Mauno Pöllönen spent three hours at the Brusnichnoye border crossing and never got to Russia – he was deprived of his Russian visa and turned back to Suomi. According to the traveler, the Russian border guards were interested in his relatives and acquaintances in Russia and even wanted to know his military rank.
The border service of South-Eastern Finland said that visa cancellations began on May 11, and during this time almost 25 citizens of Suomi lost their travel document. And so far this is within the statistical error. For comparison: on May 14 alone, 1,034 Finnish citizens crossed the border with Russia.
As Fontanka wrote, the main complaint once morest the Finns is the misuse of a business visa. They go to Russia for cheap gasoline and shopping, and this does not fit the format of a business trip. What are the prices for gasoline in Finland – read the material “Fontanka”.
