Washington.- The Democratic National Committee (DNC) began virtual voting on Thursday to officially designate Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate for the presidency of the United States.
Virtual voting began at 9:00 a.m. ET and will conclude on August 5 at 6:00 p.m. ET.
Harris, the current vice president of the United States, has secured the Democratic Party’s nomination as she is the only one who has presented herself for the vote.
Harris will officially become the Democratic presidential nominee when she secures 1,976 delegates, although nearly 3,900 delegates have confirmed they will vote remotely for the vice president, the first black woman to be a candidate for president of the United States.
The result of the vote will be announced by the DNC no later than next Monday at 6:00 pm ET, two weeks before the Democrats meet in Chicago on August 19 to hold their convention and where a ceremonial vote will be held to crown Harris as their candidate for President.Telemundo.
