Technologies and virtual reality can often be synonymous with entertainment, the Traumas Côte-Nord team has made another mission of this, that of soothing the autonomic nervous system in order to promote stress management in the short and long term.

Anyone aged six and over can benefit from these unique tools. A multisensory virtual reality cabin is offered at the Traumas Côte-Nord premises near Sept-Îles for immediate relaxation, a unique technology in Canada, since there are only two in the entire country.

The Dynamic Neurofeedback® tool is a brain training system that promotes a more flexible and resilient mindset. During relaxation, data is collected using the sensors.

“The tool helps people’s brains reorganize themselves by reducing stress levels by improving concentration,” explains Ms. Marie-Claude Roberge, psychologist and neuropsychologist at Traumas Côte-Nord.

This tool is not considered psychological services, it is rather complementary to health care and psychological follow-ups.

Available to businesses

A Corporate Stress Relief component is currently offered. “The idea is that the employer offers its employees virtual reality and brain training sessions. Anonymous statistics are recorded in order to indicate to the employer the level of stress of its staff,” specifies Ms. Roberge.

Precise and documented indicators from workers’ brain areas are identified on burnout, anxiety, depression, alcoholism, chronic pain and concentration problems.

Dr. Roberge explains that the clinic team will be able to travel outside of Sept-Rivières during critical incidents.

“We will offer individual and group psychological services, as well as Dynamic Neurofeedback® when there are cases of serious accidents involving injuries or deaths and even in cases of suicide which could affect a professional team,” confides Ms. Roberge adding that the needs are present in the region.
