Virtual president-elect meets with bankers

MEXICO CITY (El Universal).— After a private meeting with bankers from around the world to explain her government program, the virtual president-elect of Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, announced that she will create the Advisory Council for Regional Development and the Relocation of Companies, which will be linked to the private sector to promote the development of the various regions of the country.

He explained that the Advisory Council for Regional Development and Business Relocation will be headed by Altagracia Gómez, who will coordinate agencies such as the Ministries of Finance, Economy and Energy, among others, with the private sector.

“It is a business council that Altagracia would coordinate and that would be in contact with Marcelo (Ebrard), with Rogelio Ramírez de la O and with Luz Elena González, who would be the Secretaries of State for this work plan that we want to develop (…) we would promote it as soon as we come to power. In addition, it would be the dialogue that the president has with Mexican businessmen,” he stressed.

Regarding the private meeting with members of the International Monetary Conference (IMC), mainly made up of bankers, Sheinbaum Pardo said that there is a desire for investment on their part and explained to them that one of the axes of her administration will be to continue with the project of shared prosperity.

“We did very well, there is a lot of interest in investing in Mexico and we are very enthusiastic about the next six years that this will generate not only investment, but development and well-being for Mexicans, and we talked about what our development project is for the country, linked to development hubs for well-being and investment schemes, and at the same time the infrastructure that we are going to develop,” he said during an interview.

At the event, which was chaired by the president of BBVA and which included among its guests Agustín Carstens, former governor of the Bank of Mexico and current general director of the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo also explained her National Energy Plan, the National Water Plan, Professional and Technical Development Plan, as well as the National Infrastructure Plan, which includes the construction of roads, airports and new kilometers of passenger train tracks, in addition to the creation of the Digital Transformation and Telecommunications Agency.

He also presented the National Security Plan, which he explained is linked to addressing the causes of crime, as well as a housing plan to build one million decent and accessible houses.

During the presentation, Sheinbaum Pardo also outlined the 22 welfare hubs that will focus on the relocation of companies in the country, as well as on various business sectors, such as the pharmaceutical, automotive and housing sectors.

In this regard, the next Secretary of Economy, Marcelo Ebrard Casaubon, explained that the campaign proposals were presented at the meeting, including the well-being centers, infrastructure projects and shared prosperity, and noted that the private sector has announced that it will invest 46 billion dollars in the country in 2024.
