Virginia, the beloved teacher of a school in Spain who died too young

The town of Torremolinos, in the province of Malaga, is in mourning. A woman, 40 years old and a teacher by profession, lost her life last Tuesday.

The woman, named Virginia Gaitán, has died following battling a disease that she was diagnosed with a few years ago. Her state of health had worsened in recent months until she ended up in this tragic outcome.

Virginia was director of the CEIP El Pinillo public school, located in Torremolinos. The woman was a great lover of children and she truly enjoyed her profession.

She arrived at the school working as a secretary. Later she was a teacher. Virginia worked her way up little by little until she became director of the center in 2018.

He was an extremely hard-working and kind person. Everyone at school loved her. In fact, the school council proposed last February to change the name of the educational center so that it bears the name of Virginia.

The deceased was always involved in the different activities that took place at school, also in the local school environment.

A name change in honor of the deceased

The consistory itself was in charge of breaking the news early in the morning of his death. “The city council conveys its condolences to their family and loved ones, as well as to the educational community of Torremolinos for this painful loss,” they expressed through a statement.

In the letter they also expressed that next Friday, March 10, a tribute to Virginia will be held. In the same act, the name of the school will be changed, which will be renamed ‘Maestra Virginia Gaitán’.

The name change request was proposed by the CEIP El Pinillo school council on February 24 to the City Council. It will finally be this Friday when it becomes effective. It is a nice gesture that will make the director’s memory last forever.

The Torremolinos City Council regrets to inform of the death of the director of CEIP El Pinillo, Virginia Gaitán, and conveys its condolences to her family and loved ones, as well as to the educational community of Torremolinos for this painful loss.

On February 24, the School Council of CEIP El Pinillo, requested, in coordination with the City Council, the change of name of the educational center to be called ‘Maestra Virginia Gaitán’. To this end, a process began that culminated on Friday, March 10, with the holding of a plenary session in which the change in honor of this committed teacher will become effective.
