Virginia Tech Football: Building for the Future with Class of 2025 Recruiting Success

2024-01-31 11:00:01

It can’t be stressed enough that if you build it, they will come. Over the last two seasons, Virginia Tech football coach Brent Pry and his staff have been building on the field and off. They are starting to see the results quickly.

One area that they needed to see results quickly was in recruiting, more importantly, recruiting within the state of Virginia. In the Class of 2024, they landed some of the top recruits that the state had to offer. Now the coaching staff is focusing on the Class of 2025 and they are off to a very good start.

Three-star offensive lineman Carter Stallard verbally committed to Virginia Tech and he is the second Class of 2025 commitment that the Hokies have got. Last July, Kelden Ryan of Texas, a three-star quarterback committed to Tech and he is one of the better signal callers that the class has to offer. He chose the Hokies over in-state schools, SMU, Houston, Texas Tech, UTSA, and Baylor.

Stallard, who made multiple visits to Virginia Tech last fall, is the No. 16 ranked player in the state of Virginia according to 247Sports and the 48th ranked offensive lineman in his class.

The 6-foot-7, 315-pounder is from Christiansburg and had offers from Duke, Louisville, Maryland, Virginia, Buffalo, East Carolina, Florida International, Wake Forest, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Marshall, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, Alabama, Auburn, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Penn State, and Charlotte among others.

There is still a way to go in recruiting the Class of 2025, but the Hokies are already making big strides. They just hosted a bunch of recruits over last weekend and some of them are some big recruits who are going to decide on their future real soon. Stay tuned.
