Ahmedabad: Pictures of South African captain Themba Bavuma sitting on a chair at the captains’ meeting held in Ahmedabad ahead of the ODI World Cup were circulating on social media the other day. A video of Bavuma sleeping between Sri Lankan captain Dasun Shanaka and New Zealand captain Kane Williamson and Williamson looking at Bavuma in surprise has gone viral on social media. Indian hero Rohit Sharma will also be seen in the film. The image first appeared on English fan group Barmy Army’s X (formerly Twitter). Within hours, it was taken over by fans.

But Bavuma has now come with an explanation in the campaign that he sat on the chair in the captain’s meeting. But Bavuma responded below Barmy Army’s post on X saying that he was not sitting around and it was the camera angle’s problem.

I blame the camera angle, I wasn’t sleeping ????????‍♂️

Bavuma, who came to Thiruvananthapuram to play South Africa’s warm-up matches, returned home urgently due to personal reasons. Aiden Markham led South Africa in the warm-up matches in Bavuma’s absence. South Africa’s first warm-up match against Afghanistan was interrupted by rain and they lost to New Zealand in the second warm-up match. Bavuma joined the team after returning from home after the warm-up matches.
