Didik setyawan: it was raining heavily, almost non-stop for hours. We noticed the water level rising quickly, but it wasn’t anything unusual. I went outside to check the water channel, hoping to see if I could divert the flow away from the cafe. That’s when I saw it – the mountainside above the cafe was giving way. it was like a living thing, collapsing towards us. I just yelled at everyone to run! We didn’t have time to think – it was pure instinct.
Archyde: What did you do next?
Didik Setyawan: there was nowhere to go inside. Messy, it was raining so much. We ran towards the rice fields nearby as thay were slightly higher ground. We found shelter behind a large boulder. The landslide flow slowed down a bit there, and we finally made it to the next village.
Archyde: You must have been terrified during that ordeal. How are you coping with the aftermath?
Didik Setyawan: Of course, I’m deeply shaken by what happened. I can still hear the roar of that landslide, see the faces of those who weren’t so lucky. My thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones. We are all trying to come to grips with this tragic event. Rebuilding will take time, both physically and emotionally.
Archyde: What kind of support are you seeing from the community, and what message would you like to give people in similar situations?
