A harrowing landslide in Kasimpar Village, Petungkriyono,‌ Pekalongan, Central Java, left a trail of devastation in ⁣its wake. On Monday, January 21, 2025, as torrential rains pounded the region for ​three hours, a ‍cafe, ‌allo ​Coffee Empire, ‌became an unexpected‍ refuge ⁢for many seeking shelter from the storm.Little did they know, the earth woudl soon​ claim their lives.

Distressing footage captured the⁤ atmosphere inside the cafe shortly before the disaster struck. The video shows a dark and stormy exterior, highlighting the‌ intensity of the downpour ⁤that was seemingly relentless.‌ Tragically, one of the cafe⁤ visitors lost ‍their life in the disaster ​– a 19-year-old ‍named Revalina.

Revalina’s mother, ‌Watmi, recounted the terrifying ‍ordeal. “It was flooded, and then the landslide ​came⁣ suddenly when my daughter and I were enjoying ‌Allo ⁢Coffee ⁣food,” she shared. The forceful surge of the earth sent Watmi⁤ flying ⁢upwards, while her​ daughter was swept away by the debris. Revalina’s body was⁤ later⁤ recovered, leaving her family broken and ‌devastated.

Along with Watmi,⁤ twelve other individuals ⁢suffered injuries and were receiving treatment at the community Health Center ‍in Petungkriyono.

Didik ⁣Setyawan, the manager​ of Allo Coffee ⁤Empire, described⁢ the harrowing moments leading⁤ to⁢ the landslide. “I was‍ going out ‍to check⁤ the water channel when ​suddenly, I looked up, and the landslide was coming‌ down together. Others didn’t know what to do,” he recounted, sharing his experience from the TikTok account @taromcomal. Seeking refuge, Didik and his staff ran into nearby ⁤rice ⁢fields to escape the relentless force of⁢ nature.

“We ‌stopped at a large boulder; the ​flow slowed‌ down a bit, and​ we ran to the ⁢next village,” he explained.

The landslide claimed the lives ‍of at‌ least 22 people. Sadly, four individuals remain⁤ unaccounted for, ‌and search and rescue efforts are still⁢ underway.

Archyde: Didik,⁣ can you‍ describe‌ the moments leading‌ up to​ the landslide while at Allo Coffee Empire?

Didik setyawan: it was raining heavily, almost non-stop for hours. We noticed the water level⁣ rising quickly,‌ but it wasn’t anything unusual. I went outside to check⁤ the water channel, hoping to⁣ see if I could divert the ⁣flow away from the⁢ cafe.⁢ That’s when I⁣ saw it⁤ – ⁤the mountainside above the cafe was giving way. it was like a living thing, ​collapsing towards us.‌ I ‍just yelled at everyone to run! We didn’t have time to think – it‌ was pure instinct.

Archyde: What did you ⁤do next?

Didik ⁤Setyawan: there was nowhere to go inside. Messy, it was ‍raining so much. We ‌ran towards ⁢the rice fields nearby as thay were slightly higher ground. We found ⁤shelter⁢ behind a​ large boulder.The landslide flow slowed down a⁢ bit there, and we finally made it to the next village.

Archyde: You must ⁣have been terrified during that​ ordeal. How ⁢are you coping with the aftermath?

Didik Setyawan: Of course, I’m deeply shaken by what happened. I can still hear the ⁣roar ‍of that landslide, see the faces of those who weren’t so lucky.My thoughts are with the families who lost loved ones. ⁤We⁤ are all trying ‌to come to grips with this tragic ⁤event. Rebuilding will take time, both physically and emotionally.

Archyde: What kind of support are you seeing ​from the community, and what‌ message would you like ​to give⁤ people in similar situations?

Didik Setyawan: The community has been ​incredible. People are⁢ reaching out,offering help ‌and comfort.‌ It’s ​been overwhelming, and I’m so grateful.To everyone‍ facing a‍ natural disaster, ⁢I want to say: listen to the warnings, be prepared,⁢ and most importantly, prioritize your safety.‌ Your life is precious, and there is always hope,⁤ even in‍ the ​darkest of times. We will overcome this.
