Ana Maria Carriquiry is a head of the Family Court No. 2 of Orán, Salta, in Argentina, who was a participant in a story in which the love of children is more important than any inconvenience. Carriquiry remembers that at the beginning everything was tense, but he did not imagine that the situation would improve quickly. In this case, several questions arise, among them, how would the child understand that he has two fathers and one mother?
Start of the case
It all started in 2019, when the mother had a baby with her partner, with whom she lived a year ago. However, months later, without the knowledge of her boyfriend, she contacted her ex-partner, because she believed that he was her real father. After a DNA test she was able to confirm it. Unfortunately, after a short time, the woman passed away.

Immediately, the ex-partner appeared before the courts to request that recognized him as the real father of the child. “When the biological father started the lawsuit, he came with the top caps,” recalled the judge, thinking that a great drama was coming, since she requested the annulment of the paternal recognition of the one who had raised her son.
The latter’s reaction was sad and more so when he learned the truth of paternity. “Imagine the state of despair that man had. I thought that he would not come to the second hearing,” revealed the magistrate. However, her response was unexpected. “He asked to continue being the father, even along with the other father, and said he didn’t care if his last name was the boy’s second, third, or fourth name,” she said.
What happened to the minor?
“It was a sample of what serious love is”: the judge thus described the case to BBC Mundo. Both parents agreed to watch over the minor. Carriquiry was moved by what happened and gave custody of the child to the two men. Since then, the three-year-old has two fathers and one mother, despite not being recognized by the Argentine Civil Code.

Thus, both parents agreed that the child would still live with his foster or “socio-affective” parent, as various media describe it, and over time he would bond with his biological father. It should be noted that the two gentlemen would take care of the economic part of the child.
