Violent Clashes and Palestinian Exodus: Latest Updates from Jenin Refugee Camp

Our correspondent reported, on Tuesday evening, that violent clashes took place between members of the Israeli army and Palestinian gunmen, in the Jenin refugee camp in the northern West Bank.

Our correspondent said that the clashes are “the most violent since the start of the military operation.”

These clashes come hours following a run-over and shooting attack took place in the Israeli city of Tel Aviv, which left a number of injuries.

For her part, Palestinian Minister of Health Mai al-Kaila said, “The Israeli army is transferring its aggression to Jenin hospitals and firing inside them.”

It added that the Israeli forces stormed the Jenin Governmental Hospital and opened fire inside it, resulting in 3 injuries, including two serious injuries, and they also stormed Ibn Sina Hospital in the city.

This comes at a time when the Chief of Staff of the Israeli Army, Herzi Halevi, said, “We will know how to enter where we want, when we need, and when we choose, and there will be no safe place for terrorists, and whoever fled today will be found tomorrow.”

Concurrently, the Israeli Prime Minister’s Office stated that Benjamin Netanyahu held a security assessment on the situation in Jenin.

Thousands of Palestinians flee

Thousands of Palestinians fled following the start of the Israeli military operation, seeking safe haven in shelters and with their families outside the camp, according to the Palestine Red Crescent.

The mayor of Jenin, Nidal al-Obeidi, said that regarding 4,000 Palestinians fled the camp, while the death toll from the two days rose to 11.

Residents indicate that the water and electricity supplies were cut off in the camp.

Residents across the West Bank went on a general strike to protest the Israeli operation.

The IDF spokesman, Admiral General Daniel Hagari, said on Monday that Israel launched this operation because regarding fifty attacks over the past year originated from Jenin.
