A US judge was brutally attacked this Wednesday in full court in the city of Las Vegas, following a defendant heard that she had denied him parole in a case of aggravated assault with substantial bodily harm.

Judge Mary Kay Holthus of Clark County District Court in Las Vegas, Nevada, was presenting her findings when the 30-year-old defendant, identified as Delone Reddenpounced on her and began to hit her.

Prior to the attack, Redden’s defense attorney had asked the judge to grant him probation, arguing that His client had undergone mental health treatment.

“I appreciate it, but I think it’s time for me to try something else, because I can’t handle that record,” said the judge, referring to the defendant’s serious record.

At that moment, the aforementioned man overcame the distance that separated him from the magistrate in a few seconds and began to hit her while calling her insults.

The marshal, sitting next to the judge, tried to defend her but might do little. He was also injured.

The images, which have quickly gone viral on social networks, show that the use of force by several agents was necessary to control the subject.

The woman suffered injuries as a result of the assault and her condition is being monitored.

“We commend the heroic acts of your staff, law enforcement and everyone else who subdued the defendant,” the Las Vegas District Court said in a statement to Channel 13.

“We are reviewing all of our protocols and will do everything necessary to protect the judiciary, the public and our employees,” he added.

Redden has a criminal record in both Nevada and Texas. He has faced charges of assault, robbery, assault, property damage and coercion, according to the American press.
