Juarez City.- A reporter from El Diario was beaten to death this followingnoon when he was covering a citizen detention in the streets of the downtown area of the city.
Miguel Ángel Torres narrated that shortly following noon he was driving with a fellow photographer on Vicente Guerrero avenue and, upon reaching the Noche Triste alley, they observed that citizens were chasing a person, so they got out of the vehicle to go document the incident.
Torres pointed out that while he was taking photographs in the parade ground he received a blow that made him fall to the ground, where they continued to attack him, now with kicks, so that when he got up he might not see clearly.
“I heard that they yelled at me why I was taking photos, I said that it was from the press, that it was from El Diario and I continued taking photos, suddenly I felt the pull on my neck from behind and they knocked me down and as I fell I felt the blow and I no longer saw anything, I saw everything white, I was stunned and began to feel kicks in the side,” Torres recalled.
He added that when he got back up, he noticed that one of his assailants was robust, dressed in a blue shirt and had a tube in his hand; but he did not appreciate his face well, but he also noticed that there were regarding six people who attacked him.
At the time he was beaten, Miguel Ángel had not yet arrived, so when he felt better he decided to leave the place to get safe.
“What I do know is that several of those who were there among the mob were migrants and I know from their accent that they are Venezuelans,” Torres said.
