The wave of violence has continued in Mexico since the arrest of drug trafficker El Raton. Canada now considers the destination, which is very popular with Quebecers, as at risk.

Global Affairs Canada recommends avoiding non-essential travel to certain cities due to the growing violence and presence of organized crime in Mexico.
“Avoid places where demonstrations and large gatherings are taking place. Do not attempt to cross unsupervised. Allow extra time to reach your destination. Expect an increased number of security forces,” wrote Charlotte MacLeod, spokesperson for Global Affairs Canada.
It is especially the Sinaloa State which is to be watched. This region is located in the north of the country.
“We had a lot of requests. To calm the anxiety, you should know that the conflict is taking place in the northwestern part of Mexico, so the only problematic tourist destination is Mazatlán. If you are traveling to Puerto Vallarta, Acapulco, Cancun, there is no problem. My advice is to follow the recommendations of the government, ”explains Éric Boissonneault, vice-president of the Association of Quebec travel agencies.
Recall that last Thursday, the son of El Chapo was arrested. A police operation followed, leaving 29 dead and 35 injured. Three planes were also hit by bullets.
Currently, more than 13,400 Canadians are in Mexico.
