The atmosphere was tense on Wednesday May 3 on the set of Punchline (CNews). That day, Laurence Ferrari addressed a sensitive subject, namely the various violence recorded during the last demonstrations once morest the pension reform. On May 1, black blocs notably once once more opposed the police everywhere in France and a policeman was even burned by a molotov cocktail intended for him.

To talk regarding it, Laurence Ferrarri invited journalist Thierry Vincent to his show, who wrote a book on black blocks. But his analysis was not at all understood by his neighbor Geoffroy Lejeune, editorial director at Current values. And between them, the tone quickly rose. “You don’t sigh when I talk regarding a cop that got burned by a black bloc“, was first annoyed the latter. “I sigh precisely because you are using legitimate emotion and personal drama. It’s typical of the extreme right“, retorted the journalist Thierry Vincent who persisted in saying that the black blocks were “not assassins“. “Your speech is unbearable“, ended up letting go Geoffroy Lejeune. It was too much for her rival who therefore decided to get up suddenly to leave the set. “You are here every night. You, you talk and me too, it’s my job to write regarding black blocks. You know nothing regarding it. I do not defend them!“, he got carried away, banging his fist on the table.

The debate interrupted

Laurence Ferrari did try to calm things down by asking one to be quiet and the other to sit down. “Can we continue this debate?“, she asked. But in vain since Thierry Vincent, exasperated, has truly abandoned the show. “Very well, we continue without you, what do you want me to tell you…“, commented the journalist, also a bit upset. And for her to conclude: “The debate must take place with respect for each other. We’re moving forward, it’s a shame because we had questions to ask“.
