Thiruvananthapuram∙ Patient attacked doctors at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. Sudheer (45), a native of Balaramapuram, was attacked. The medical college police arrested him and subjected him to medical examination. The incident took place around 7.45 pm on Tuesday. The police registered a case on the complaint of the doctors. This is the first case following the notification of Hospital Protection Ordinance.
Santosh and Siva Jyoti, senior residents of the neurosurgery department, were attacked. The accused is a man who came for treatment with back pain due to disc problem. Tests were being conducted for his surgery. He robbed the doctors who were on night duty. Doctors are also said to have been insulted. Santhosh was stabbed in the neck. The Kerala Health Care Workers and Health Care Service Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage to Property) Amendment Ordinance, 2012 was signed into law by the Governor yesterday.
