It’s no surprise that platforms like Vinted have caused a shift in the way we look at secondhand. Which is absolutely clever and necessary, because valuing our clothing – whether or not by giving it a second life – is crucial on the road to a conscious purchasing mentality. But beneath the apparently eco-conscious facade of platforms like Vinted lie more complex questions: is their use really a step towards a sustainable transition? Or is it an excuse not to change our purchasing behavior? In this 5th episode of the Sustainable Wardrobe Mission we try to find answers together.
This episode is based around Vinted this is an opinion piece I wrote in 2023. Because I wanted to delve deeper into the world of second-hand, but I still regularly hit a mental wall. The op-ed is actually a concise summary of my podcast plea to deal thoughtfully with second-hand.
