Positive experiences, but the squad depth is a concern: EHC Olten finishes the Vinschgau Cup with one win and one loss
EHC Olten beat HC Innsbruck 6:2 at the Vinschgau Cup and lost to Ingolstadt 1:5, gaining a lot of valuable knowledge in the process.
Four games in six days, three games within 42 hours at two different locations with a travel distance of 400 kilometers – this was the tough program that EHC Olten had to complete in the past few days. The power mice ended the weekend’s mammoth program with a positive result, winning two of the three tests. On Friday, EHCO impressed at league rivals Winterthur with a 4:2 win, thanks in part to Asselin’s hat trick, and on Saturday they beat HC Innsbruck 6:2 with a dominant performance, before Olten lost 1:5 to top DEL team Ingolstadt on Sunday. “For us, it was much more than just a weekend. With three games in three days in a foreign place with a lot of traveling, we went out of our comfort zone. We were able to gather a lot of impressions, gain a lot of knowledge and, above all, have had a lot of positive experiences,” said coach Gary Sheehan with satisfaction.
