The Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cell Therapy also cooperates with Vinmec Stem Cell and Gene Technology Research Institute to carry out dozens of valuable research projects and publish more than 60 articles in prestigious international scientific journals…

Created five years ago, these two units have become pioneers in the university strategy of the Vinmec health system as well as stem cell research in Vietnam.

The mission of the Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cellular Therapy, as a pioneer, is to methodically invest in stem cell research and closely coordinate research and its applications to achieve high efficiency and ensure the safety of all patients.

Positive results of stem cell transplants

After five years of research applied to treatment, the center has performed stem cell transplants, which have shown positive results for many incurable diseases such as cerebral palsy, autism, spinal cord injury, cirrhosis or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

In addition to the active treatment of incurable diseases, the research center’s stem cell therapy also shows strong development potential. This therapy promises major advances in personalized intensive care, prolonging life and improving the quality of life (chronic diseases, diseases in the elderly without optimal treatment such as diabetes, osteoarthritis, decline in health due to old age, male/female hormonal decline).

In addition, the center also uses oncology immune cell therapy to support the treatment of patients with lung or stomach cancer, to increase the lifespan of patients while maintaining the quality to the maximum.

By implementing this therapy, the center is following in the footsteps of countries that have already implemented such cancer treatments, for the greater benefit of patients.

Lê Thuy Anh, General Manager of Vinmec Health System said: “Vinmec is proud to be one of the leading healthcare systems in the field of biomedical and regenerative medicine in Vietnam. Over the years, Vinmec’s Center for Regenerative Medicine and Cellular Therapy has helped restore hope to thousands of people suffering from incurable diseases. Thus the Institute of Stem Cell Research and Gene Technology, it will be the cradle of academic medical development of the entire Vinmec health system”.

In the future, the Center will continue to support and work closely with the Research Institute to carry out clinical trials. This in order to obtain a license to perform stem cell transplants regularly to treat autism, cerebral palsy and genetic symptoms after traumatic brain injury or stroke, thus meeting the expectations of many patients. .

“At the same time, it will be necessary to expand research and maximize the application potential of stem cells for diseases according to the characteristics and advantages of each type of stem cells extracted, in order to improve the success rate and the effectiveness in clinical treatment”said the Pr.-Dr. Nguyên Thanh Liêm, director of the center, also director of the Vinmec Stem Cell and Gene Technology Research Institute.

In addition, the upcoming goal of Vinmec Regenerative Medicine and Cell Therapy Center is to promote the application and development of international techniques regarding stem cell and gene technologies in Vietnam, through studies such as : the application of mesenchymal stem cells in the treatment of Alzheimer’s neurological diseases, cerebrovascular accidents, traumatic brain injuries; trials using differentiated neurons from pluripotent stem cells to treat lateral sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord injury; treatment of blood cancer by transplantation of CAR-T cells or partial transplantation of HLA hematopoietic stem cells.
