VinFast VF 3: The Electric Car to Stir Up Indonesia’s Market!

Jakarta: Ladies and gentlemen, hold onto your wallets because the electric vehicle (EV) market in Indonesia is about to get a serious jolt! With manufacturers throwing their hats into the ring like chocolate at a fundraiser, it’s high time we discussed this colorful upgrade in our four-wheeled chariots.

Enter VinFast from Vietnam – because who doesn’t want a car with a name that sounds like a superhero? They’re not just aiming to be fast; they want to electrify your driving experience! After the triumphs (or should we say, ‘electric shocks’) of the VinFast VF e34 and VF 5, they’re rolling out a fresh model that looks strikingly like the iconic Suzuki Jimny. You know, for when you want to drive something environmentally friendly but still yearn for that tough-guy vibe.

Introducing the VinFast VF 3! It’s been launched in Vietnam, and word is it will make its grand entrance into the Indonesian market sometime next year. A vehicle that promises to be non-emission… yet probably produces more excitement than an unplanned visit from your in-laws.

What’s in Store for the VF 3?

During the recent Gaikindo Jakarta Auto Week (GJAW 2024), Chief Sales Officer Davy Jeffry Tulian teased us with the notion that the VF 3 will be making waves in the first quarter. Well, if that isn’t the automotive equivalent of a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat! Just don’t ask Davy about prices or exact release dates—he’s clutching onto those details tighter than a toddler holding a cookie. His confident proclamation? “Just wait for the playing date.” Hopefully, that’s not the same as waiting for the next season of your favorite show.

The Specs

For those wondering what the VF 3 packs under the hood (or, considering it’s electric, maybe around the battery?), it boasts a max cruising range of 215 km on a charge. That’s a solid run for a weekend escape, or just a long drive to avoid others asking about your love life. The electric motor pumps out a modest 40 hp and generates 110 Nm of torque. If I were a torque, I’d definitely be feeling the pressure trying to impress drivers in a country full of motorbikes and mini-vans!

In Vietnam, it starts at a tempting 240 dong (around IDR 153 million). However, if you think that translates directly to Indonesia, I’ve got a bridge to sell you! When it hits Indonesia—who know? You might want to check under your couch cushions for spare change.

The Design Factor

With a boxy design that features a modern twist—perfect for those who want to drive something that screams, “I care about the planet, but I also hit the gym” —the VF 3 is really designed to catch the eye. VinFast has even registered this vehicle with the Indonesian Ministry of Law and Human Rights. That’s right, this car isn’t just fast; it’s officially legal!

Conclusion

So grab that imaginary popcorn, folks. It looks like the VinFast VF 3 is set to waltz onto the Indonesian EV scene in a way we haven’t seen before. As competition heats up, let’s just hope we won’t need to unplug the charger to survive the excitement. Until next time, enjoy the ride—just remember to do it sustainably!
