On June 7, Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune called on motorway companies to lower toll rates for the summerasking them to set up “a commercial gesture of at least 10%“. Message heard, but under certain conditions, and in different forms.
Indeed, while the three main concession companies responded favorably to the government’s request, they all decided on a different offer, on varying terms. We take stock of the three proposals, which have in common require a subscription to electronic toll and payment using Chèques-Vacances.
Vinci Autoroutes: 20% contribution, from June 15 to July 31
First to announce its rebate, Vinci Autoroutes offers on its electronic toll offer Ulys Liber-t Vacances “20% matching contribution on holiday voucher payments made between June 15 and July 31, 2023“.
The concessionaire, which owns the largest network of motorways in France, however conditions the discount on three conditions: holding Chèques-Vacances, registering for electronic toll Ulys Liber-t Vacancesand pay the Chèques-Vacances into their Ulys Liber-t Vacances account between June 15 and July 31, 2023.
Another important point, contribution is limited: the maximum amount that a motorist can receive under the promotion is €50, i.e. when you top up your badge using €250 of holiday vouchers.
APRR/AREA: 25% contribution, from now until August 31
The APRR/AREA network, a subsidiary of Eiffage, followed in Vinci’s footsteps by announcing its own offer, valid on its electronic toll offer Fulli Liber-t Holidays. The discount offered is similar to that of its competitor, except here, it’s not 20 but 25% matching which are promised. Another point, the offer is valid now, and until August 31.
Just like for Vinci, subscription to the electronic toll Fulli Liber-t Holidays is mandatory here to benefit from the offer, as is the supply of the account with Chèques-Vacances, limited here also to 250€, which promises all the same a maximum contribution of €62.5.
Sanef: 50% reimbursed on a day of your choice, between July 1 and August 31
Sanef, for its part, has decided to offer a slightly different offerwhich can be more or less advantageous depending on your requirements.
Once once more, the offer is subject to subscription to the electronic toll, here the Bip&Go Liber-t Vacances, which therefore includes payment by Chèques-Vacances. Once these conditions have been validated, the dealer offers a reimbursement of 50% of your expenses at the toll, but on a single day, the one of your choice.
To do this, it is necessary to choose this datewhich must be in July or August, by July 31 on its subscriber area, online. Reimbursement will be made automatically on the monthly invoice. Last point to consider: the offer is only valid for subscribers who register before July 25th.
What is the most advantageous?
If you plan to take out an electronic toll subscription to take advantage of these discounts, it’s up to you to choose the offer that suits you the most, depending on your needs. In fact, no matter where you live, you can choose the electronic toll service from the company you want, since the badge is valid on all French motorways.
Although APRR-AREA’s offer seems a priori more advantageous than that of Vinci Autoroutes, the choice vis-à-vis Sanef’s proposal depends on your forecasts for this summer: if you only intend to make one big journey, it can be very advantageous. On the other hand, if you want to multiply the routes and destinations this summer, it may be better to choose another choice.
As a reminder, the motorway companies have not announced any discounts on the general prices of the toll stationswhich increased this year by 4.75% on average, last February.
