Vincent Biauce becomes the new CEO of the NewB financial cooperative, the latter announced in a press release on Tuesday. NewB announced in June that it was looking for a new CEO following the departure of Thierry Smets.
The new CEO, whose appointment will still have to be approved by the General Meeting in November, began his career at Fortis Bank as an asset manager, then as a project manager. He then did a short stint at ING in a payments project, before joining the Federal Agency for the reception of asylum seekers. In 2010, he joined the Belgian subsidiaries of the Crédit Mutuel group and held the role of project manager there.
NewB also underlines the social commitment of its new CEO in various projects related to the ecological transition.
“This expertise is a valuable asset, as he is responsible for the commercial development and day-to-day management of our vdk bank franchise agency and our insurance product offering (in partnership with Monceau Assurances)”, specifies the financial cooperative.
Having become the online banking branch of the Vdk bank following financial problems, NewB had not been able at the end of last year to collect the additional 40 million euros demanded by the National Bank to enable it to retain their banking license.
The cooperative then entered into an agreement with Vdk Bank allowing it to remain active throughout the country. The NewB members approved this operation last January.
