Not an ounce of ideology but bowed heads and excuses. Quentin, 28, opens the ball. He was filmed making a Molotov cocktail in a beer bottle. “I didn’t throw it, the wick fell out,” he stammered. “You wanted to send him on some policemen?” asks President Hélène La Salmonie. “I was planning to set fire to garbage cans,” says the young man who lives on the street. A few hours earlier, he was begging. “Friends told me to come to the demo. I followed, I don’t know why. »

Vincent, a 19-year-old mason, had an appointment with friends in town. “We found ourselves in the middle of the thing. All dressed in gray, cap and hood on his head, orange basketball on his feet, he threw stones in the direction of the police. No one was hurt. His intention? “I imitated the others. He was arrested around 8 p.m. A mask, gloves and a knife are found on him. “A small knife”, insists his lawyer, Me Testelin, whom the emergency procedure adopted by the prosecution “exasperates”. “Other cases of the same ilk have ended up in a classic referral to court. My client is very young, he has a clean record, has spent 48 hours in police custody and one night in detention. »

“I freaked out”

Arrive Michaël, 34, also homeless. He is accused of giving the finger of honor to CRS and throwing stones at them. He only recognizes one. “No policeman was hit, the stone fell next to it”, pleads his lawyer, Me Delhomme. “I was going back to Victory College. We had been sleeping there with my partner since the day before. She is pregnant. She took tear gas, I freaked out. It was stupid”, sobs his client, in the blackened record of 23 mentions. “Free, inadmissible violence,” stings prosecutor Tamara Elbaz.

The court partly followed his submissions. Quentin receives 8 months in prison, 4 of which are on semi-freedom; Vincent six months with suspended probation; Michaël of eight months closes without warrant of deposit. Everyone is banned from protesting.
