Is teh ‘Fast & Furious’ Feud Back On? Vin diesel and dwayne JohnsonS Awkward Globes encounter Sparks Debate
Vin diesel once again reassured fans this week that everything’s cool between him and his Fast & Furious co-star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, but a recent moment at the Golden Globes has left some wondering if their much-publicized feud has reignited.
The awkward exchange happened on Sunday night at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards. Diesel, who presented the Cinematic and Box Office Achievement Award, offered a rather nonchalant “Hey,Dwayne” too Johnson while on stage. The moment, captured on video, was punctuated by a pregnant pause that had some audience members chuckling.
Fans online quickly weighed in on the interaction, labeling it “loaded” and “petty,” with some speculating that Diesel might have intended to catch Johnson off guard. Though the reason behind the greeting remains unclear, it spurred a wave of discussion about the tumultuous history between the two action stars.
Diesel attempted to quell any speculation on tuesday, posting an image of himself and Johnson on Instagram with the caption “All love… Always…”. Though, this only seemed to fuel the rumor mill further, with some fans noting that Diesel had used a throwback photo and questioning whether a new picture was even taken at the event.

the pair’s very public feud began back in 2016 and played out in the press and on social media. Johnson, who played luke Hobbs from Fast Five through The Fate of the Furious, publicly criticized “male co-stars” (believed to be Diesel) who behaved unprofessionally. He also starred in the Hobbs & Shaw spinoff with Jason Statham. While he was absent from both F9 and Fast X, Johnson ultimately made amends with Diesel in 2023, announcing his return to the franchise.
“Despite us having our differences, me and Vin, we’ve been like brothers for years, and despite our differences, when you lead with — number one, resolve — but also you think about the future and plans that are much bigger then ourselves. Those bigger plans are the buildouts, they are the North Star,” Johnson said at the time.
While some beleive Diesel’s Globes greeting was intended to reaffirm this reconciliation, others suspect a hint of tension remained. Regardless of the underlying motive, with the sequel to Fast X still in progress, fans will be eagerly watching to see how Diesel and Johnson interact next.
