Vim Avia Boeing 757: Ex-Condor jets should finally find buyers in Russia

Three Boeing 757s flew first for Condor, then for Vim Avia. When the Russian airline went bankrupt, they mightn’t be sold. Due to the current lack of jets, the insolvency administrators are now hoping for success.

Vim Avia introduced in started operations in autumn 2017. A year later, the Russian charter airline with high debts was declared bankrupt. While owner Rashid Mursekayev went into hiding, the bankruptcy trustees tried unsuccessfully to sell Vim’s Boeing 757.

Now they’re making a fresh start. Like the portal CH Aviation reports that three Boeing 757-200s are up for auction: the one with the registration number RA-73017 with two Pratt & Whitney engines and an auxiliary power unit (APU) for a starting price of the equivalent of 12.4 million euros; those with registration number RA-73018 without engines for 3.7 million euros; and the one with the registration number RA-73012 without engines for 3.4 million euros.

First delivery to Condor

All three aircraft are around 30 years old and are currently in Moscow. They were originally delivered to Condor in 1992 and 1993. With the German holiday airline they carried the registration numbers D-ABNR, D-ABNS and D-ABNM. In 2002 they were phased out there.

Two additional auxiliary engines including spare parts are available for 194,000 euros and 179,000 euros respectively. The insolvency administrators are likely to hope for increased interest, as Western sanctions mean that Russian airlines are currently unable to source aircraft or spare parts from North America and Western Europe.
