At the level of the Ring, the works are also numerous. After many schedule changes, the very impactful work between Lille and Waterloo ended this weekend, in time for the start of the school year. But others are in full swing. To the north, the titanic construction of the Vilvoorde viaduct has only just begun and is causing disruptions until… 2031. At this stage, no change in the direction of Grand-Bigard, but narrower tracks and a slowdown towards Zaventem.

In the Zaventem area, the slowdowns continue to apply. At the Léonard crossroads, night closings continue. In Halle, several slowdowns are to be recorded on the Ring as part of bridge renovations. Embarrassment still at the crossroads of Quatre-Bras and Avenue de Tervueren as part of the creation of the footbridge. Finally, several slowdowns to deplore at the end of the E411 at Overijse and Jezus-Eik.

Night works in the tunnels

In the center of Brussels, work continues in the tunnels of the Petite Ceinture, but only in the evening. Until at least the end of the year, these night closures concern the Arts-Loi, Madou, Trône, Rogier, Porte de Namur and Botanique tunnels.

Avenue Louise, the passage through the Vleurgat-Bailli tunnels is on a strip, and they remain closed at night until the end of the year. The Woluwe tunnel remains partially closed until December. Night operations also in the Reyers-Centre and Van Praet tunnels.

In the capital, other construction sites are impeding traffic. After the long summer queues at Avenue Princesse Elisabeth, the heavy works on Boulevard Lambermont are slowly coming to an end… for the time being, as major refurbishments are expected next year.

Upstream on the other hand, at the exit of the A12, the disturbances are only just beginning. This September 4, the vast construction site of Avenue Van Praet begins, called as a reminder to be a two-way street. On the program: new roundabout, reduction in the number of lanes… to which is added the construction site for tram 10 in Neder-Over-Heembeek.

Other construction sites in the coming weeks: there will also be road restrictions in Square Sainctelette and Boulevard de Waterloo (at the level of the Bascule crossroads). We should remember, among other things, the heavy works involving the closure of rue Léon Theodor in Jette, chaussée d’Alsemberg in Uccle (“Bourdon” section), and chaussée de Neerstalle.

No “plan B”

On the side of the Brussels Region, we are however pleased to have successfully completed a series of heavy works before the start of the school year. “These works had to be done. We thank motorists for their patience. We have tried to limit the nuisance for visitors and residents of Brussels as much as possible,” said Minister Van den Brandt (Groen).

For its part, Touring connects the large number of construction sites and the new mobility policies in Brussels to deplore the absence of a “plan B” for drivers. “Before, we always had the option of doing things differently when there was an accident and work. With Good Move, for example, all traffic is sent to the Petite Ceinture. But if there is a problem… It is a disadvantage of these plans, and it is not often taken into consideration”, slips the spokesperson for Touring.
