“The main shelters were installed in the planned places of the central square, because according to the calculations of our experts and the recommendations of the architects, significantly larger numbers of people gather there, so a structure of this size is in great demand. In these places, where the canopies are now installed, not only short-stop passengers gather (in the “Kiss and Fly” area), but also people from the entire square”, explains Tadas Vasiliauskas, representative of Lithuanian airports to the media.
Covering the entire area with a canopy would simply be impractical. As the representative of the airport explains, if the entire area near the departure terminal is covered with a canopy, the entry of natural light into the terminal spaces would be severely affected.
