Vilnius carillon festival gala concert: music, light and elegant coziness | Culture

At St. Toru Takao from Japan, who has already captured the hearts of listeners with his mastery and unique interpretations, will be the carillon player of the Philip and Jacob Church, loved and welcomed by the people of Vilnius. Toru says that he is always happy to return to Vilnius and share the music he performs with the people of this wonderful city, and especially to create with the artist Jurgis Pauliuk.

“This time, Jurgis surprised me by offering an unusual light installation. It will spread on the ground and the walls of the church like carpets. This is a real carillon performance!” said T.Takao.

According to J. Pauliuk, this idea was inspired by the “City Birds” project implemented in 2021.

“And large areas inspire me, and I have to see the horizon every day. The church yard has a lot of space, high walls, and the goal is to make the evening concert cozy. The Toru program is excellent, the listeners will appreciate it”, shares Jurgis Pauliukas.

At the beginning of the concert, Austin Farwell’s piece “New Home” will invite the listeners to immerse themselves in a cozy and warm musical journey together with the world’s most famous composers. The program also includes works by Johann Strauss, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Carl Philipp Emanueiol Bach, Vittorio Monti, Stanislaw Moniuszko and other composers. Paul Buchanan’s Mid-Air will close the evening.
