Mumbai: Big upset in Vijay Hazare Trophy ODI tournament. Defending champions Saurashtra were upstaged by junior team Tripura. Batting first, Tripura scored 258 runs for the loss of eight wickets in 50 overs on the strength of half-centuries from Bikram Kumar Das (59), Sudeep Chatterjee (61) and Ganesh Satish (71).

Indian player Jaydev Unadghat took five wickets for 35 runs. In reply, Harvik Desai, Sheldon Jackson and Chirag Jaini were lost early. Cheteshwar Pujara (24) and Arpit Vasavada tried to pull Saurashtra down to 13-3, but Saurashtra were all out for 110 runs in 31.4 overs in front of part-time spinner Joydeb Deb’s five-wicket performance. Joydeb took five wickets conceding 15 runs. Saurashtra was devastated when Pujara was trapped in front of the wicket by pacer Bikram Debnath.

Sandeep Warrier shines for Tamil Nadu

In another match, Tamil Nadu scored a resounding win once morest Bengal. Bengal, who batted first, were bowled out by Malayali pacer Sandeep Warrier (23-4) by Tamil Nadu for 85 runs. Tamil Nadu also lost five wickets, despite hitting the target in 19.1 overs.
