Kochi > Vigilance investigation on the allegation of fraud under the guise of Punarjani project conducted by opposition leader VD Satheesan in Paravoor constituency. The Vigilance Government has ordered a preliminary investigation on the complaint filed by the Chalakudy Kathikudam Action Council alleging that there was a violation of the FCRI Act by going abroad and collecting money to provide houses to those who lost their homes in the 2018 floods. Vigilance will investigate VD Satheesan’s foreign trips, collection of funds and irregularities in spending money received from abroad under Punarjani scheme. The preliminary investigation was ordered on the basis of a complaint received by the Director of Vigilance asking for an investigation once morest VD Satheesan. Primarily check whether there was any violation of the Foreign Contribution Control Act in fundraising. After seeking confidentiality and legal advice on the complaint received by the Vigilance, the Vigilance was entrusted with the preliminary investigation. Last day, there was an allegation that a solar inverter scam was also done in the name of the project. Allegations of illegal withdrawal from abroad will be investigated. Information is now coming out that confirms the CPI(M)’s claim that there was a massive fraud in the Punarjani scheme. Crores were collected in the name of the project including in foreign countries. In this regard, VD Satheesan had announced that when political parties requested the figures, they would conduct a social audit and publish the figures.
