Kristiansen finds it burdensome to be accused of assault and murder in Baneheia almost 24 years ago, and his appearance in the reopened case once morest Jan Helge Andersen (43) is “in itself a burden”. This is written by legal aid attorney Brynjar Meling in a press release on Monday.
– Based on this, the press is requested to take their share of the responsibility for the case being carried out in the most gentle way possible for Kristiansen, by failing to photograph and publish pictures of him in connection with the case, writes Meling.
Viggo Kristiansen has served almost 21 years for murder and assault he did not commit. After he was completely acquitted and cleared of any involvement with the Baneheia murders a year and a half ago, his former comrade has been charged in the reopened criminal case.
The prosecution now believes Andersen was alone in raping and killing Stine Sofie Sørstrønen (8) and Lena Sløgedal Paulsen (10).
– Kristiansen has a strong need to start over in life and put this matter behind him. He has never sought attention and never asked to be part of this case and one would think that the press would show understanding that 24 years in the media’s spotlight is sufficient, writes Meling.
