Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
Vietnamese media highlights certainty Kevin Dicks will undergo a naturalization process as an Indonesian citizen (WNI) and will soon be able to defend himself Indonesian National Team in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
Vietnamese media, Bongda24 also wrote about the certainty that Kevin Diks would undergo the naturalization process. They stated in their report that this naturalization program was a concrete step in PSSI’s hard work looking for talents of Indonesian blood who could be naturalized.
“With the ambition to find Indonesian-blooded talents who play football throughout the world, in recent times, PSSI under the leadership of Erick Thohir has been tireless in searching for, finding and bringing in quality naturalized players,” wrote Bongda24H in their report.
The media also reminded again that Indonesia had confirmed the naturalization of Mees Hilgers on a previous occasion. Hilgers himself made his debut with the Indonesian national team in the match against Bahrain.
“Among them, Mees Hilgers is worth 7 million euros, more than the selling price of the entire Vietnam squad.”
“If nothing changes, Kevin Diks will be the ‘latest recruit’. This defender was born in 1996 to a father from the Netherlands and a mother from Indonesia.”
The Indonesian national team is currently competing in the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifications. In the first three matches, the Garuda Squad has always played a draw and has now collected three points.
The Indonesian national team’s next duel is against China, Tuesday (15/10). This match could be an opportunity for Indonesia to win their first win in the third round of World Cup Qualification.

Indonesian Football: A Conspiracy of Naturalization?
Jakarta, CNN Indonesia — Well, it seems like the Indonesian National Team is doing everything short of adopting players to bolster its squad! Vietnamese media reports that Kevin Diks is all set to go through the naturalization process and soon don the colors of the Garuda team in the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. I mean, why not? If you can’t persuade a few locals to play for you, just take a stroll down the talent aisle and pick up some ‘exotic’ imports! It’s like playing FIFA, but with real-life management. Who’s next? Meg Ryan?
According to Bongda24, this isn’t just a wild goose chase for talent but rather a systematic endeavor by PSSI—yes, the Indonesian Football Federation—under the leadership of Erick Thohir. This guy seems to be on the hunt for players with “Indonesian blood” around the world. I mean, you’ve got to admire the optimism! Maybe Thohir should start a series on Netflix titled “Indonesian Talent: The Global Hunt.” Shall we cast Liam Neeson as the lead looking for players instead of his daughter?
Now, let’s not forget the recent star in this recruitment saga: Mees Hilgers, who apparently decided to trade his Dutch cheese for nasi goreng. Priced at a dazzling €7 million, Hilgers is apparently worth more than the entire Vietnam squad. So, if you’re curious why there’s a spike in the price of Indonesian food in the Netherlands, there you go!
As Kevin Diks makes his way through the naturalization process—you’re probably wondering if he has to take a crash course in bungkus etiquette—he’s reported to be defending a bit of a family legacy. Born to a Dutch father and an Indonesian mother, it appears Kevin wasn’t just born into a football loving family, but an entire sporting philosophy!
As it stands, the Garuda squad is currently entangled in a draw-heavy situation at the third round of World Cup qualifications, collecting a mere three points from three games. This sorcery must be on par with Houdini! But perhaps the upcoming duel against China on October 15 could be their magic moment for that inaugural win. Or is it too much to ask for after those other three alluring—if not tantalizing—draws?
In summary, Indonesia seems to have its sights firmly set on a World Cup run, with naturalization becoming the name of the game. It’s like an elaborate reality show where football is the backdrop, and the new recruits will undoubtedly provide more than just a pinch of spice to the team. But remember, football is not just about the players; it’s also about the fans. So, here’s hoping Indonesian fans will soon have a reason to break out the confetti rather than just the tissues! So, go ahead, keep that optimism alive—at least it offers a better chance of scoring than those three draws.
