A sound that you just have to get along with, stylistically diverse, energetic and of the highest level – that’s exactly what the famous all-star group VIENNESE LADIES offers on their debut album “Enlightenment” (K. Music Records; release: February 17th).
One can definitely speak of a supergroup with this band, as it consistently consists of female singers and musicians, all of whom have been able to celebrate success throughout Austria and internationally with their many own formations and projects in recent years. You only have to look at the names of the artists involved – who come from the USA, Great Britain, Switzerland, Belgium, Bulgaria and Austria and who found each other in Vienna – to know that you are dealing with concentrated musical quality here Great things can be expected.
And you won’t be disappointed in any way. The five singers Betty Semper, Kim Cooper, Meena Cryle, Aminata Seydi and “Niddl” and the bassist Claudia K., the guitarist Beate Reierman, the pianist Philippine Duchateau, the harmonica player Harpina Defant, the drummer Maria Petrova, the saxophonist Silke Gert and the trumpeter Daniela Lang, who as Viennese Ladies made a name for themselves in the past, especially with their Etta James tribute program, put a dance on the musical parquet on their debut, which warms the heart in the most beautiful way.
What the Viennese Ladies make the program on “Enlightenment” is a sound of joie de vivre. It is a brightly colored and energetic soul, pop, funk, R&B, reggae and jazz firework that ignites in the songs and creates a really exuberant atmosphere. You can tell from every song which professionals are at work here. The band knows exactly how to make numbers exciting, fill them with life and turn them into a thrilling and highly varied experience. If you listen to the album, you will immediately be put into a happy state, you will constantly feel encouraged to get your dancing feet in motion and simply to celebrate. And at the highest level. A really great album, with which Vienna Ladies present to the audience.
