Already 1000 patient visits in the Diabetes Center Wienerberg

Vienna (OTS) At the 40th session of the State Target Control Commission, new projects to expand health care in Vienna were approved. The newly opened Wienerberg Diabetes Center has already seen more than 1,000 patients in the first three months.

With a multilingual pilot project, the state target control together with the women’s health center creates a hub for women’s health issues. The aim is to support women of all ages and phases of life, for example in finding their way around the health system or in preparing for a doctor’s consultation. The facility will be set up in the 10th district and will network with all relevant health service providers.

As part of the digitization of Vienna’s health services, the state target control, together with the PSD Vienna, is initiating an innovative additional treatment option in the field of mental health care for children and young people. The digital application serves, among other things, to provide specific content and information for clients (library function). It is also intended to support users, for example, with medication management.

Special care for tracheostoma patients is being expanded in the outpatient sector for the care of children and young people. In addition to medical services such as check-ups or vaccinations, the offer also includes regular checking and adjustment of tracheostomy medical products for growing children and adolescents.

In March of this year, the Wienerberg Diabetes Center was opened to patients. In the first three months, 660 patients were treated with around 1,000 visits. The patients are cared for in the center by a multi-professional team. The focus is on a comprehensive education program for patients to support them in dealing with the disease.

“I am very pleased that the Diabetes Center at Wienerberg is so well received. With the projects decided today, we are creating further opportunities for better patient management and relieving our hospitals,” says Vienna City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker.

“With these innovative projects, together with the City of Vienna, we are once once more showing how healthcare can work. The needs of the people are always the focus of all the projects and motivate us,” emphasizes Mario Ferrari, Chairman of the Regional Committee of the Austrian Health Insurance Fund in Vienna.
