Majority of mandates vote for zipper system in chamber elections
Vienna (OTS) – The motion of no confidence introduced at the extraordinary general meeting of the Vienna Medical Association on Tuesday, October 10th was not adopted due to the lack of the required two-thirds majority of the valid votes cast. Of 81 valid votes, only 44 were in favor of being voted out. Medical Association President Johannes Steinhart emphasizes that he wants to convince his critics.++++
The motion regarding the dissolution of the general meeting and the ordering of new elections was postponed by the majority until the next general meeting, which will take place on December 12th.
Steinhart: “I regret the image that has emerged from the political struggles of the last few months. That’s why I’m glad that today’s extraordinary general meeting brought clarity on some issues. Technical work must now finally take place once more – from fee negotiations to vaccination services to the challenges in the hospitals.”
The majority of the general assembly also decided in favor of better, legally regulated representation of women in medical association committees. The corresponding motion for a zipper procedure in chamber elections was accepted. This means that the project is transferred to the legislature.
