Telematics use via app offers the simplest handling for customers
For years we have been pursuing the goal of expanding our business model with offers that are not causally attributable to the idea of insurance, i.e. hedging once morest risks. We started this very successfully 10 years ago with the establishment of our own assistance companies, ‘Global Assistance’. With the offer of a telematics app, we are now taking another step in the range of digital services that offers valuable additional benefits

Vienna (OTS) – The Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) is expanding its strategy of offering customers valuable additional benefits. An app provides car insurance customers with valuable services and information and promotes responsible driving. The higher the driving score, the more insurance premiums the customer can save. The VIG company Kooperativa in the Czech Republic is offering the first telematics tariff.
Offer the customer added value
As part of the VIG 25 strategy program, the insurance group is focusing in particular on expanding digital services to create additional customer benefits. “For years we have been pursuing the goal of expanding our business model with offers that are not causally attributable to the idea of insurance, i.e. hedging once morest risks. We started this very successfully 10 years ago with the establishment of our own assistance companies, ‘Global Assistance’. With the offer of a telematics app, we are now taking another step in the range of digital services that offers valuable additional benefits
“, explains Elisabeth Stadler, General Director of the Vienna Insurance Group. For the new service, VIG is cooperating with the Austrian company Dolphin Technologies, which has established itself as a specialist in telematics solutions and developed the app. No device needs to be installed in the car to use the app.
Cashback for customers of Czech Kooperativa
The first customers of the VIG Group who can use the new digital service are those of the Czech VIG company Kooperativa. Customers can use the “Koopilot” app free of charge. Once a quarter, depending on responsible driving behavior and depending on the vehicle that was driven, between 10% and 40% of the insurance premiums paid can be recovered as cashback. The amount saved so far is transparent on the start screen of the app. Tips for improving driving style are also displayed in the app, so both driving safety and cashback can be easily increased. The users of the app benefit from an automatic logbook and information on driving behavior such as exceeding the speed limit or making phone calls while driving. All data is recorded with the explicit consent of the customer and secured separately.
Life saving emergency button
The large SOS emergency button on the app offers a particularly valuable benefit. In the event of a vehicle breakdown or an accident, all you have to do is press the SOS button and the emergency call as well as information regarding the location, driver and vehicle are sent to the VIG company Global Assistance in the Czech Republic. The necessary steps are discussed with the customer by calling back immediately. If the customer is unable to speak to the Assistance, an ambulance will be sent to the scene of the accident immediately.
By using the telematics app, the driver not only improves his driving behavior, which is rewarded with monetary reimbursement. This increases their own safety, reduces the risk of accidents, protects the environment through conscious driving behavior and receives coaching to improve their driving style. VIG is also planning to roll out the service to other companies in the VIG Group.
