In summer temperatures, the blues and yellows from Döbling and the violets from Favoriten met. There were three changes to the purple starting line-up compared to the 2-2 draw once morest Neulengbach last week: Florentina Satra, Antea Batarilo and Alisa Ziletkina started from the start – Stefanie Schneeberger, Jacqueline Hajek and Anna Schorn initially sat on the bench.
Early deficit, Schiechtl quickly equalises
The match did not start as the violins wanted: following just over ten minutes it was 1-0 to Vienna. After a cross, Claudia Wasser had the chance first, her shot was blocked and bounced to the feet of Loretta Nemeth, who pushed the ball in to make it 1-0 (12th).
However, the violins were not impressed and immediately struck back. Just a few minutes later, Verena Volkmer failed from a good position and Katharina Schiechtl headed the resulting corner to equalize (16′). Everything is open once more at Hohe Warte.
An injury-related break for Louise Schöffel caused a brief shock – but the defender was able to continue following a short treatment (23rd). Just like on the pitch: A quick action from Dominique Bruinenberg to Volkmer, who hooked and finished – just past the furthest corner (30th). Alisa Ziletkina also had the chance to take the lead following a long ball from goalkeeper Larissa Haidner, she tried to take over the Döbling goalkeeper but was unsuccessful (35′). We went into the break with the score 1-1.
Bitter defeat shortly before the end
Both teams came out of the dressing room without changes. Defensively, Larissa Haidner had to deal with a well taken free kick (48th); The purple keeper was there and didn’t let anything go wrong. After almost an hour, Austria made their first change: Vanessa Rauter and Jacqueline Hajek entered the game, and the workday was over for Alisa Ziletkina and Antea Batarilo. Stefanie Schneeberger also played – she replaced Lea Mauly in the appropriate position (66th).
Both teams then played for victory, but largely equalized each other. The last quarter became even more intense: Volkmer once more had the chance, her header was too central (75th). It went back and forth – in the end Vienna celebrated: In the 87th minute, Nicole Ojukwu scored to make it 2-1 from the perspective of the Döblinger team. This meant that Violet’s unbeaten streak ended following eleven matches.
