Vienna, Austria, once more ranks as the most livable city in the world. Seoul and Busan were ranked 4th and 6th respectively among Asian cities.
On the 21st (local time), the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), a sister company of the British Economist, released some of its report on the World’s Most Liveable Cities Index.
According to the EIU, Vienna ranks first out of 173 cities with a score of 98.4 out of 100. Bin has been ranked number one for four of the past five years since the index was published.
In 2021, when the novel coronavirus infection (Corona 19) was in full swing, it was pushed back once, and no report came out in 2020.
Copenhagen, Denmark, with a score of 98, ranked second, followed by Melbourne (97.7) and Sydney (97.4).
Vancouver, Canada, and Zurich, Switzerland also placed fifth and sixth, with scores of 97.3 and 97.1, respectively.
In Asia, Osaka, Japan ranked seventh with 97.0, making it the only city in the top 10.
EIU calculates the livable city index by evaluating five areas: stability, medical care, culture and environment, education, and infrastructure.
London ranked 46th and New York ranked 69th, down 12th and 10th from last year, respectively.
In Asia, Seoul, Hong Kong, Busan, and Taipei ranked as the best cities to live in, followed by Osaka, Tokyo, and Singapore.
Seoul and Busan each scored in the late 80s.
Syria’s Damascus has held its place as the most livable city for over a decade.
Kiev, Ukraine, which is at war with Russia, only ranked 165th.
